Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage in Dallas, TX

This type of modality focuses on the deep layers of muscle tissues in an effort to release chronic patterns of tension. The massage uses many of the same strokes as classic massage therapy, with the main difference lying in the fact that a deep tissue massage involves slower movements and the application of greater pressure.

Why get a Deep Tissue Massage?

When muscles are stressed, they block oxygen and nutrients, leading to inflammation that builds up toxins in the muscle tissue. A deep-tissue massage helps loosen muscle tissues, release toxins from muscles and get blood and oxygen circulating properly. Because many toxins are released, it’s important to drink plenty of water after a deep-tissue session to help eliminate these toxins from the body.

Who needs it?

• Anyone who has suffered from chronic pain in his muscles may benefit from a deep tissue massage performed by a chiropractor or licensed massage therapist. Stressed muscles block oxygen and nutrients, leading to inflammation that builds up toxins in the muscle tissue.

• The primary purpose of a deep tissue massage is to work the fibers and muscles of the body, releasing deeply rooted patterns of tension. As the muscles relax, toxins are removed and blood and oxygen begin to circulate properly, making the entire body function better. Your therapist will likely remind you to drink plenty of water after a session to help eliminate these toxins from your body.

If a deep tissue massage is performed correctly, you should feel the results within a day or two and find movement to be less difficult.

No matter what type of massage you choose, the therapist should check in with you about what your needs and expectations are for the massage.
No matter what kind of massage you get, or who the massage therapist is, the massage should feel good! A massage should never hurt. Even a deep tissue massage should feel good and be deeply relaxing.
If a massage feels painful, it's more pressure than you can take. Listen to your body. Feel free to state your preference for pressure before and during the massage. The massage therapist won't know if it's "too much" unless you tell them.
